The documentary photography from San Juan became itself into an extremely valuable study object because, from all the fixed representation means, it is the one that offered the greatest analogy with reality. There, it is where its strength and potentiality had its origins for this thesis. The research developed a classroom proposal with sixth-year students in secondary school, in which a pedagogical strategy of documentary photography as an educational resource/aid for the regional History was used, and with a communicative-educating Latin American perspective. The historical period belonging to the “Cantonista” era (populist movement) from 1923 to 1934 was studied. They were part of three governmental periods. This pedagogical strategy let the researchers confirm the value of the documentary photography image that laid in its representation quality of reality, and in the possibility of its reading and rewriting. That fact implied the analysis of messages that, as in the text reading, could give a new meaning to multiple and particular interpretations for its purpose, mainly critical and thoughtful. |

La investigación partió de la necesidad de rescatar lazos conectores iconográficos del pasado y la recuperación de un aspecto valioso perteneciente al patrimonio histórico provincial.1 La historia busca restablecer el seguimiento de los acontecimientos que constituyen, en definitiva, la memoria colectiva de pueblos y naciones. La fotografía documental de San Juan se convirtió, en un valiosísimo objeto de estudio; ya que, de todos los medios de representación fija, es la que ofreció mayor analogía con la realidad, y allí es donde residió su fuerza y potencialidad para esta tesis. El trabajo desarrolló una propuesta áulica con estudiantes de sextos años del nivel secundario, en la que se utilizó una estrategia pedagógica fotografía documental, para la historia regional y con una perspectiva educomunicativa latinoamericana. Se abordó el período histórico correspondiente a la época Cantonista (movimiento populista), a partir de tres períodos de gobierno (1923-1934). La estrategia pedagógica permitió corroborar el valor de la fotografía documental, que radicó en su cualidad de representación de la realidad y en la posibilidad de su lecto-escritura. Esto supuso el análisis de mensajes que, como en la lectura de un texto, pudo resignificar múltiples y particulares interpretaciones por su finalidad fundamentalmente crítica y reflexiva.
